I have also used Hose Techniques' 3.5 mm silicone hoses on three cars (2 SAABs and 1 Audi) and am very pleased with the results. Audi uses vacuum to operate many functions on their cars, i.e. door locks, variable-length intake runners, ACC flap control, and the silicone hoses work well. My guess is that tiziano used some other brand or used 3.2 mm thin-walled windshield washer hose, not intended for vacuum applications.
Some of the chain auto parts stores sell junk hose manufactured in the far east in several neon colors - well, technically it is silicone and it is a hose, but it is not suitable for real-world applications other than dressing up your engine bay. Won't make you "Fast", will make you "Furious"!
