Permanent vs. intermittent

There are two types of codes: Permanent are those faults which occur all the time, and intermittent are of course those that occur irregularly. All will clear whenever you clear the system, it's just that those permanent conditions cause the same problem right away the first time you start the car after clearing.
P0120 is "Throttle position function incorrect" and will always appear when the car's gone into limp home mode.
I've had one TCS car that would drive fine until you gave it more than 50% throttle, then it would clonk into limp home mode. Replacement of throttle body cured the problem. Sounds like you may be in that same boat.
Remember the warning that the system must have the correct command codes entered via ISAT or Tech II before AND after the TB is replaced, or you might fry the replacement TB.
You can try a used original-part TB if you wish, provided that the source can vouch that it was operating properly. Alternatively, sounds like the reconditioned units have earned a good reputation and are reasonably priced.
If you're in the New Haven, CT area you could stop by my house some weekend for a scan.
