Hi John,
Hopefully you have identified which thing is the safety valve. Its not the "square electronic thing", its right next to that. There are the 3 hoses attached, as descibed by one of the other guys in this thread. As you replace it, I suggest you disconnect the battery for about 30 minutes to clear any CEL codes that may be present in the main ECU. Why? The TCS ECU also talks to the engine's computer, looking for things to worry about, things to be paraniod about.
Someone at SAAB thought that TCS was a good idea. Fortunately, someone else realized that the implementation of TCS took, potentially, control of the car away from the driver and placed it under the control of computers!!! A little motor in the throttle body controls the throttle, and that motor is controlled by the TCS ECU. If the gas pedal potentiometer reading is wacky, the car will do different things then what the driver wants. BRILLIANT enginnering. Only "solution" to this self inflicted problem is a very paraniod TCS ECU.
From my experience, the TCS, when it does operate on slipperly surfaces, doesn't provide a benefit anywhere near the making the risk acceptable.
good luck. Please post your solution, we're all learning from each other!
Ed
