The Hoppy is a 5 to 4 wire converter. It integrates turn signals and brake lights. I took the one I just hooked up off my totalled toyota p/u. I bought it at #1 Auto in Middlebury about 4 years ago. I believe it was more like $20. Seems you should be able to find something that does the same thing up your way. If not, you could run another pair of cheap lights and wires for turn signals, which would actually be a better rig, but more complicated. The connector by the left tailight has everything you need to do it any way you want.
I'm just getting into saab trailering since I don't have a truck on the road anymore. So far I've towed a wood splitter and my trailer no problem. I wouldn't recommend going over Lowell Mountain with a load, though. I did that once with my 81 Maxima diesel.
Good luck
