After my last post, I'd determined that the most logical way to handle this was to take it to a garage near where I'd be working on replacing the wheel bearing and CV boots, have them use an impact wrench to loosen the axle nut, drive slowly and carefully back to the driveway to do the repairs. Fix the junk, drive slowly and carefully back to the garage to have them tighten the nut to full torque.
Only problem is, no one will do it. I stopped at five different places within a two mile radius, and none will help me. Some wouldn't give reasons, others cited liability for me driving off with a loose axle nut. I can understand that, but damn, can't someone give a guy a break?
I'm going to call ScanWest here in Seattle on Monday and see if they'll do it, and if not, if they'll do the repair using all of the parts I already have.
I know most garages frown on that, but what other options have I got here?
Anyone? Anyone?
How do you say "FRUSTRATED AS HELL" in Swedish?
