SAAB started installing remote-operated alarms in about 1995, therefore the remote on your daughter's car is an aftermarket unit.
One thing that you could do is find the aftermarket unit, which should be fairly obvious since it will have a non-SAAB brand on the cover, carefully cut ALL the wires going to it, and take it out. The unit itself may have a fuse built in which might provide the same effect (if it doesn't kill the ignition totally!!!).
Another alternative is to reprogram the code that the alarm uses, which might involve something as easy as moving a slider switch inside the unit. Do you have a manual? If not, find out who made it and see if they can provide information.
OR: school is almost over for the year!
