ok, on my '94 teh warning lights are separate from the EDU, except for the check engine, ditto coolant level (maybe others), the prndl, and the outside temp/voltage/mileage/miles to go readouts
i'm not familiar with the earlier style, if it is in fact different
i had mine out a couple weeks ago but didn't open it up, just changed a few bulbs. i just let working black boxes lie.
i assume there's a green board thingie with the pretty silver shiny dots in there? (PCB)
maybe one of the sensors that feeds it is passing along some voltage when it shouldn't? i don't know about its inner workings so i can't say, but it's a possibility.
do you have a good diagram of it and its connections? i have a much later diagram but it doesn't show a whole lot.
have you changed the clock?
i'm guessing here, as you can prolly tell. i've rebuilt quite a few lost causes too. i wish i knew more about how it is supposed to work. it is weird that they all have different failures.
