Figure $1000-1500 in parts and machine shop cost to do a decent rebuild in your 9K. Add labor which flat rates in the 28-32 hr range for an engine tear down rebuild.
If the current car has a good rust free body, and has been well maintained, (other than why did the engine go at that mileage?), and if you like it, I guess I'd do the rebuild. However, if you have a place to park it,(for parts), or even if not, you can find '96-'98 9K's out there in good running condition for not a lot more than what it will cost you for the engine rebuild. IMO $3900 is too much for a '93.
