Thanks for the informative and helpful suggestions. The '93 IS superclean, polished, shifts crisply, and accelerates at what seems like 2G's. With new tires, new headliner & dash, saddlesoaped leather seats and "only" 118k miles, it is tempting. Shifting is also fun... Putting a new engine in my current car looks like it will cost several thousand anyway. (I am only qualified to add gas and fluids when the dash lights go on.) $3900 (less trade-in, of course) for 60k less miles starts to look reasonable if my '95 needs a new transmission. Otherwise, my friendly used Saab dealer seems to sound like most of you: drive until it stops and see what makes sense then. Keeping a car running and avoiding large capital outlays seems to make the most sense. The 9-5 Wagon and 9-3 Hatch that we have simply don't fill the same performance/practicality niche that the 9000 does. I guess that's why we keep them! Thanks again, and also for any further feedback.
