I made the TCS on my 1993 reliable for about $1500.00.
Something else that happened to me with the 1993, though, is that some of the plastic parts just fell apart. Gradually, the cruise control switch, the windshield sprayer, and the horn plastic parts just broke. Then, a little $7.00 plastic bushing deep in the steering column fell apart, making the steering loose. Once I went over a speed bump at a low speed and the glove compartment door just fell apart.
My kids really made fun of that car.
Something else that fell apart were the welds on the two front door window mechanisms. They were pretty time-consuming for me to fix and may have cost a lot at a shop.
I don't know everything about it, but is it possible that the plastic and the welds just gave out from age?
I still like the car but now I drive a 1998 9000. Just as nice, less trouble, and not all that expensive to buy.
