I enjoy my Saab, but I wouldn't put it in the same class as the cars you mention. All are far more expensive than the 9000 Aero, even a mint condition example. Not really a fair comparison for the Saab's sake.
If I were to replace it, I would be picking something up in the $10k range. An E39 BMW 528i or E46 323i/328i would be my first choice, or a 540i 6 speed if I could get lucky and find a good deal.
