So here is the paradox I face. My '93 9000 Aero has 225k on it. TCS, original manual transmission. No rust except a small amount near the sunroof that I need to POR15. Straight body, good paint. Doesn't burn a drop of oil, turbo boosts strong, transmission shifts well. Except for wear on driver's seat, interior is very nice and clean.

For me to be content with this car, I probably need to sink at least $1000 into it (I'm an anal SOB). The front seat lower padding is shot, so I'd like to replace that and recover the driver's seat ($500). The blower motor is going ($100), and I suspect my ACC unit is dying as well (another $50 on Ebay). I just did an overhaul of the suspension bushings, including some poly stuff, but I need new struts ($350). Motor mounts are also in need of replacement ($300 ish). Wheels could stand to be refinished ($400 pro or cheap DIY). Finally, I'd love to add new sways and a strut bar ($500). Seems like I've exceeded $1000 by a bit.:)

After all that, I still have a car with 235k, TCS, and original transmission. Right now, all is well. The car has been babied all it's life by one family since new, and I have records back to 80k or so. Everything has been replaced when needed. Everything TCS has been replaced and the system works well. But, I'm very worried about sinking more money into a car that's not worth much, then having a major expensive failure. I'll probably have some spare cash this summer that I could use to purchase something else, so that option is there. What say you fellow Saab nuts? What would you do?
