Had an accident with my '96 CS. Advice?

Had an unfortunate accident with my car last Thursday. No one was hurt, just shaken up, but the front of my car is a mess, and other parts are damaged. The other car spun three times up the road, while I stayed in place. Have lots of pictures of the damage done to it.
I would like to get it repaired if at all possible, and am waiting to see what our garage that we go to says about it. Question: is it usual for a garage to say that the repairs are not worth it to 'the bank'. We own the car outright and has nothing to do with the bank, so wondered if this is something that I just do not understand. SAABs are few and far between where we live, and if it can be repaired, would wish to have it done (if it does not cost too much).
So very sad about it, especially with the prices of buying cars now. My SAAB does/did over 26 miles to the gallon, which I have not seen much of other cars doing.
Any thoughts - apart from buying a new car which is difficult right now - will be much appreciated. Can post the pics of the damage, if that is of any help.
