Fix it for now but plan your exit strategy as it won't last forever.
I went through a similar decision when the motor unexpectantly blew on my 97 9000.
I did eventually fix it with a used motor and life was good again ... until cyl 2 had a low compression issue that got worse on full throttle run one night...
luckily used motor 2 was a good one...
The car always seemed to have 3-5 issues no matter how much I fixed
- many were minor the latest being, seat heater, radio, antenna, front brakes, bushings, motor mounts, but my time for repairs was limited and my wifes patience was getting thin so I began shopping for a newer Saab.
I even considered a few low mile 9000's but even they needed fixes
I eventually found a 2007 9-3 aero at a screaming deal and really like it (love it since the bsr stg1)
It has been great with no trips to the shop in over 6 months but I still miss my 9000.
from my research there are many Saab models and years to avoid between the 9000 and my 2007 so do your research and good luck
