Yes, the bars can and do affect ride and handling on one-wheel bumps but I find it is pretty much a non-issue, at least with the Aero suspension and SAS. I can see where it could be a problem under the right conditions/circumstances, but so are softer springs and less roll stiffness when driving hard on roads with lots of tight turns, bumps and mid-corner elevation changes. You just drive the car a bit differently.
In limited traction situations, I can see how some people would say the added roll stiffness could make the car harder to handle if they prefer the slower response you get with the stock bars, but that's more of a personal preference thing. Sort of like some people prefer a soft compliant ride (Buick, Caddy DeVille) versus a firmer more responsive one (Saab, Audi, BMW). For me, 4 years in a stock CSE had me longing for a more responsive set up.
To get some other thoughts on suspension, check out my friend Jim's blog about suspension work on his Mitsubishi EVO. He definitely knows his stuff and his blog is always worth reading. The link below is to a piece he did on suspension work and some of the vehicle dynamics behind it. There's a section on lowering and when it's good... and bad. He's down your way...think he lives in Cary, NC area.
