Ok ari!
I found the cause of the brake fluid light being on.
On the abs wiring schematic i found on the townsend site, component 59, which is an inline, "2-pole" connector running from the ABS pressure switch to the brake fluid lamp...
...this connection was corroded. Two wires come into the female side, both of which had their plastic coatings disintegrated, and then there is only ONE wire coming out of it, which by the looks of it is normal.
I split the 2 corroded wires apart from each other as best i could to make sure they're not touching, checked the dash, and low and behold the BRAKE FLUID light went out, finally.
Just for "fun" i stomped on the pedal hard a few times to see when the lights come on...
FOUR PUMPS... then the lights come on.
as i said before, the fluid level in the res is at the max line after the pump shuts off... and when I pump 20 or so times with the car off, the res will fill back up to the cap.
so...
is my accumulator bad at all? OR... is this a leaky valve inside the master cylander, which bleeds off too much pressure with each pump?
Should i just replace the accumulator for $100 with the buick part and see what happens?
thanks
-gavin
