But wait. How long have you owned the car? Have you noted changes in it?
The usual questions need to answered, sorry! Did you change the air filter? is it a stock paper element one or one of the K&N clean it and oil it filters (personally don't like them), have you put in the stock NGK plugs and are they gapped properly? Do you have any check engine lights on? Has a Saab shop put a Tech-2 on it to check the engine?
Have you noted any changes in the way the car drives, performance and mileage?
Have you had any work done under the hood recently? If so what?
The 1992 fires all the injectors at once so if you have an injector that is stuck open, or intermittent, this *might* be an issue. but the plugs would be getting wet fouled if really bad.
I'm not an expert on these, I just own a crap load of them... LOL In my experience with the 9000s in nominal tune we pass, in California, with 2x or more room to spare, I would say that something in the Cat, or O2 sensor is more likely the issue. The Cat is a trimetal affair and takes care of HC,CO,Nox all in the same unit. Have you had a block head gasket? Turbo? something to cause Oil or fuel or coolant to flush out the exhaust? Those *can* not will but *can* hurt the Cat or O2.
Oh, as to the throttle body, the have different part numbers and that is usually age and "gold contacts" on them... but they all work exactly the same and are interchangeable. Even from automatic to 5 speed. I used an throttle body from another of my 1992s in my 1994 5 speed Aero without issue. If you are discussing them with someone on the phone, the visual differences are: does it have a return spring on it? it's NON TCS and will not work for you; does have NO spring *and* has a High School track looking oval in black plastic on it? This is the right one, it has traction control function.
