'96 CS fpt with 185,000 miles and slight exhaust leak where the downpipe connects to the turbo. I want to keep this car another 100,000.
I've removed the three 13 mm copper nuts. Unfortunately the top rear stud came out with the nut (not sheared off, and no thread damage). The leak came from that location, so I think vibration and thermal cycles worked the stud loose.
The nut and stud are soaking in PB Blaster. I think I can remove the nut without damaging the stud. Should I replace the stud anyway? If so, then would that be an item that only dealers can get?
The copper nuts aren't damaged. Can they be used again, or should I replace them?
It looks like I will need to move the downpipe out of the way in order to install the missing stud. In order to do that, it looks like I'll have to remove the front O2 sensor. Agreed?
