And I'm quite sure I've very nearly spent as much in repairs/upgrades to my car, as I paid for the car to begin with. Honestly, I'm too chicken to just add up all the bills, that's how many of them there are, and it's the rare bill that's under $200.
However, I can easily second your notion, that no other car I've drive has given me anything close to the enjoyment I get from driving my Saab. Sure, it doesn't help that most all the other cars I've driven are barely considered sporty or luxurious, but most of them are considered (by the general public at least) much more reliable than Saabs. Still..ANY new car these days is going to take a huge chunk out of your wallet. You can spend over $16k on a new Civic! I find that absurd! Especially since they got rid of the hatchback and also I believe screwed with the rear suspension. What reason do I have to buy it now? Not to mention it keeps getting uglier with each iteration. Saabs may not be as distinctive as they once were, but I still think they are handsome.
Ah but I digress...
Michael does have a point though, somebody has got to buy new! If Saab gets axed by GM (or sold to someone else who cares less about it), parts availability could eventually go the way of Peugot or Renault.. Though, I expect there'd be plenty of warning before that happened, so we could stock up on parts for the next five years. :)
