Hi all.

As I've pointed out before, Saab factory fills all brand new Saabs with "Saab Highperformance Turbo Oil", a 0W-40 oil. I've just gotten my hands on the newest Saab accessories catalog - collection 1992-2001. Herein it states:

Saab Highperformance Turbo Oil - Fully synthetic multigrade oil. SAE 0W-40. Improves fuel consumption by up to 3.8%. Excellent cold-start function. Cleaner engine and reduced wear and tear. (regard this all you people who claim the turbo will suffer from this oil! It comes from Saab!). Optimum performance with superior high-temperature ability........For use in all engine types, including diesel and high-performance turbo engines.

Saab Turbo Oil - Semi-synthetic mutigrade oil. SAE 5W-30. Improved fuel consumption. Good cold-start function. Cleaner engine and reduced wear and tear. Good performance at high temperatures........For use in all engine types, EXCEPT high-performance turbo engines.

So, do you have a normal-pressure Saab (not LPT), even Aero or tuned engine, you should deff. go for the 0W-40 oil. No doubt that the statement is caused by the -40 rating of the oil. But then again, do you own a LPT or a non-turbo, I still recommend the 0W-40 oil!

As far as I can tell from the cans, Saab uses Mobil 1 oil, as branded Saab oil!

Cheers!
