I wouldn't discount the rubbing noise to be a loose timing chain rubbing on the valve cover(even though it is at the back of the engine). It wouldn't hurt to pull the cover and check its tension. This would also cause a driveability/lack of power problem. Also below is a link to a d-jet site for possible trouble shooting. All I did was do a google search for "saab bosch d-jetronic" and a bunch of links popped up. Good luck!!
