Yes, it is possible to remove the oil pan without completelly removing the subframe. I did this by supporting the engine at the transmission with a jack and then remove all the bolts from the subframe and let it go down as much as it will be allowed by the suspension. Getting the oil pan bolts removed is going to be a problem even if you have the right torx bits. You will then have to replace the bolts with new ones. Unless is leaking or you are going to replace internal engine parts that require oil pan removal, I would not bother to remove it. When I removed mine it was ablsolutelly clean with no deposits. Oil sludge in the engine may be removable by just doing some engine oil flashes.
You are more likely to get sludging in the cylinder head. In the head I don't think engine flash will work very well and you will be better off to do it the hard way removing the cams, clean the lifters and perhaps jet wash the internal of the head with a pressure water jet but not necessary removing the head.
