Maintaining a Saab 900 turbo can be expensive. I have a 1998 900SE turbo convertible with 95,600 miles. If you're not a DIY (like me), it's really really expensive. It seems after I hit 80,000 miles, the car seemed to fall apart. I've been religious to the scheduled maintanence program, and I swapped out parts for preventive measures. For instance these are the things what have gone wrong with my car: broken speedometer, leaking head gasket (possibly corrected through the retorque of bolts), missing pixels in the SID, coolant leaking from various points (I still have a coolant leak, but 2 mechanics have been unsuccessful in locating it), replaced DIC twice, and 3 bent or dented rims. Repairing the car will be costly, for instance, to change the head gasket, I've been quoted for $600-$700. Today, I was reading on the board about how fuel pumps fail around 100,000 miles. I'd imagine it would probably cost near $700 to replace because the part itself costs $400 if you buy it online.
That being said, I keep the car because it's a great convertible and it's fun to drive. But I've had some rough moments with the car.
Good luck.
