We see that in general, NA engines have more failures than turbo engines. But the issue there might be human factors, not mechanical design. The turbo chargers them selves seem to stand up forever on most of these vehicles. None of these engines will do well with crappy oil, neglected changes etc. A used vehicle should have the oil drained and the sump 'fished' for signs of oil sludge.
A turbo engine is a lot more interesting to drive, and you can increase the performance significantly.
The NG900 fleet is getting old and the vehicles can be had for little money. But the cost of ownership will include some significant costs for any deferred maintenance that prior owners should have done. So you do not want a vehicle that has been 'driven to the ground' as far as having a lot of work to do. In mid life, these vehicles may need 1,500 to 2,000 a year in renewal work until things that wear out are rejuvenated.
