Hey, it's nothing personal... I just want people to hear BOTH sides of this debate. There is no such thing as a "free lunch" in the performance upgrade department. Just because you've had a MBC for six months and Dean has had one for two years doesn't prove anything when it comes to long-term reliability.
When people ask me about performance upgrades, I always tell them to do it the proper way (ECU upgrade). but if they're a DIYer, and don't mind hacking on the car (just don't tell the dealer) and want to save a buck, then by all means, install an MBC. We'll see who is right five years from now when drivetrain components start to show the wear...
Me, I'd much rather buy a used car from a little ole lady who had a gentle touch, than some kid with a leadfoot and a MBC that is running on the ragged edge of fuel cutout! ;-)
BTW, most mechanics that I've talked to would recommend a 9-5 for tweaking over a NG900/9-3... The platform is more solid, the engine is more developed (with upgraded pistons and oil coolers) and the tranny especially the new 5-speed automatic will handle the increased power...
