in particular. The Variable Compression motor does look a bit risky. A great idea, but risky none the less. The engine would need to be 100% tested for reliablility before release. It would set us back at least fifteen years if we released an unreliable engine. We already have a shaky past in the eyes of most commoners (you and I know better, but the average person has been told horror stories about our past reliability).

I'm satisfied with our research and developement. Trying new things is very important. Unfortunately, we have a past of introducing far advanced engineering concepts and working the bugs out. While we are scrutinized over every detail on them, other companies come along, use our ideas, and they become heroes. Does this sound familiar? We break ground, and someone else gets credit?

The 440 is a great car, and will sell huge numbers. Look at what the 9-5 has done for Saab, can you imagine what another great, state-of-the-art vehicle in our stable will do? The 9-5 was huge in '99, it showed a lot of other companies that Saab is a huge contender in the highline marketplace. It told everyone not to count us out; that we are still here and have the ability to outshine anyone.

Oh well, I'm finished now.
