Water cooling of the turbocharger bearings for Saab turbos started way back in 1987, with the 9000T (1988 or 1989 for the 900T). So, it's not really a 'new' feature! I will say, that the turbocharger on my '87 9000T is one of the few remaining original parts left on the car, at 277,000 miles. It simply won't die! Granted, I DO let it idle for 15-20 seconds before every shutdown, and I drive with no boost for the last minute or more before coming to a stop. I let it idle for considerably longer if I have been using lots of boost.
Oh, and just saying 'liquid cooling' isn't quite enough, because all turbos are cooled by liquid oil. But, not all are water cooled.
