Sorry I missed that question. I drive a NG 900SET and have had lots of fun with the car. I came across Amsoil in my quest for more power since the NG900 only has 185hp like the base 9-3 turbo. With some very simple and cheap mods I was able to achieve something over 200hp (I would estimate 215hp) which has made the car as quick as my wife's Volvo wagon.

I get very leary of people promoting Amsoil due to the "Amway" market strategy they use. I've seen people touting Amsoil only to find out it's for financial gains because they sell it.

The tests performed by Amsoil are great and I believe the numbers they tout, but in an engine there are sooo many other factors that a lab with a ball bearing test cannot take into account, so I question the validity.

Don't get me wrong, Amsoil is a great product, but I can't see spending 2X for the product and will never increase a drain period over 5K miles. It's just not worth it.

I have also noticed that Porsche, Mercedes and other car mfgrs factory fill with Mobil 1, but not Amsoil. One would think that on a $125,000 Porsche Turbo they would use Amsoil if there was an actual difference.

In any event, Saab drivers probably put 80K on a car and move onto the next. Maybe some run up to 140K mile and others run the marathon and go forever. But is the difference between Amsoil and Mobil 1 going to make the difference between going 80K and 250K? Probably not, since many that have recorded extreme mileage don't even use synthetic oils to begin with.

Buy what makes you happy. If you run extended drain intervals it might be wise to send a sample out to a lab for analysis, that is, if one is trying to the best thing for their Saab.

Happy Saabing

David M
