You're right, that doesn't sound like a clutch issue. Because of the battery change, I would guess it's something electrical: especially if these symptons set on suddenly. Problem is, these can be a bugger to troubleshoot, as all the computer-controlled things can look fine but be possessed (remember windows 95?).

Maybe your dealer and his fancy Tech II can figure something out. Something in the ECU may have been cooked if he shorted something while installing the battery.

Things you CAN check in the meantime to make yourself feel better include:

spark-plugs: always a good first diagnostic, look for discoloration, gap specs etc, which may indicate a problem.

IAC: this may be sticking or something and need cleaning, it takes about 5 minutes to remove, and another 5 to clean. Search on this board and the NG900 for directions if you need them.

Vacuum hose connections. They branch off the throttle body to the map, the fuel rail, the BPV and PCV. Also check the hoses leading to the BPV. Check these for cracks and splits, especially at the ends. I just replaced all of mine the other day; took 20 minutes. My MAP sensor hose had a small split, as did the one leading to the fuel rail (pressure switch?). My idle had a slight "lope" before, which is gone now.

Might as well tighten all the other hose connections while you're under the hood... it doesn't take long.

Run a dose of Techtron or the the like through your tank... should clean your injectors.

Hope you figure it out.

Best,

Lutfisk
