How involved is the control arm replacement?

The (independent) mechanic would charge $255 for the lower control arm, but only a half hour or so of labor.
I can get a third party part for $140 online. Since it's a half-hour job for a mechanic it sounds do-able by a normal person who can at least change brake pads.
Does anyone have a link to an 'instruction page' for control arm/ball joint replacement? I would have the mechanic do the inner axle shaft boot - $32 parts/$110 labor.
Thanks all!
