So for less than a couple of 60 month car payments you can fix up your "old" 9-3SE? And then something else will break.

Get the 9-5 SportWagon and become one of the cool people! 9-5's have been very reliable, not that a 9-3 isn't. A 9-5 SprotWagon is a superior automobile, in size, utility, class, luxury, solidness, performance, and very user friendly for 9-3SE owners.

Economically it's tough to build a case for a new car with only 85k on your old one. Sure a higher mile car can zap you for $500 every now and then, but you'd be stepping into $5,000 worth of payments a year, and you can fix lots of problems and keep the car in reliable, dependable, cosmetically perfect condition. 85k is just broken in mechanically. And a '99 is done derpreciating significantly, it's all about how well you care for it from here forward.

So I recommend keeping it, which means you'll probably trade it, sales can be a game of backwards. It's noteworthy that one of the biggest flags I see in the car sales biz is when folks have just spent money on their old car. Then they're ready to dump it. If they haven't spent anything on it, why get rid of it?
