As an equally starving composer, I have to chime in here and also recommend Walter Wong, who is an amazing guy and will save you a lot of money.

He's an independent Saab mechanic in LA (La Cienaga and Venice) who will save you money whenever he can, and give you a loaner while he's working on your car if you so desire. His rates are among the most reasonable I've ever found and he will talk you out of repairs if he doesn't think you need them. He's an extremely honest and helpful guy. And check out his comments in the mechanic's area!
Unfortunately, I have moved out of state and can't use his services any more, but I feel entirely comfortable recommending his services. I've had a similar experience with my 96 900SE, although I just had the struts and strut mounts replaced, all other expenses have simply been oil changes and new tires. I'm at about 95,000 miles and will probably do the maintenance at 100,000, when I'll also be up for new brakes.
