Assuming my driving style is fairly conservative and I rarely "ride the clutch" how long is the shelf-life of a factory clutch?

Again, I know this is tough to answer given the multitude of variables, but I'm trying to get a sense from Saabnet members when clutch work was required ...

Regarding your suggestion to replace the MTF (as this will add longevity to my transmission and improve gear shifting), doesn't the health of the clutch dictate how smooth or not smooth your gear shifting will be? So, if the clutch is due to fail, replacing the MTF first would be a waste of time, right?

In other words, will replacing the MTF directly impact the longevity and health of the clutch?

I have a 97 900 S hydraulic clutch

Forgive my babbling and incoherency (too much bacardi last nite)
