As some of you might recall from my last post, I was on Holiday in Ohio when my idler pulley went - shredding the belt. The only place to bring it was the dealership in Ohio where they ripped $400 out of my soul - just for the idler pully replacement!! I HAD to get back to NY for meetings the next day so I had to suck it up and pay for it.
Now, I get back to NY and there is a squalling noise coming from the belt area. So, I bring it to MY local saab dealership where they unhappily inform me that A. I was ripped off in OH (I knew that already) and B. I now need a new alternator!!!!
The dealership quoted me a inane price of $900 to replace it, 2 indy shops here quoted me $453 and $552. So, I am now going to be putting 1k into my car. ouch.
There is no relationship between the bad alternator and the $400 rip but would it be worthwhile to complain to Saab Inc. about the price at one of their dealerships???
Sorry so long. Thanks for the vent.
