7ES plugs run cooler than 6ES and Saab changed their spec's many years ago. Some suppliers just do not understand that something changed. Fouling with 7ES is quite common, that is why 6ES is recommended by dealers and many on this BB. Some high output engines run better on the 7ES... other issues that I will not get into this time.
Part if Saab's directions to dealers with bad DICs withing warranty is to replace the plugs, refit the DIC and then start and run diagnostics. Fouled plugs can create DIC fault codes.
For most folks, plug gaps of .035 - .037 are best as this provides a longer in-gap service life. The gaps as supplied are 1.1mm, or .041 inches. You need to re-gap new plugs. Rust... these plugs are old? A gap of 0.050 is seriously wrong.
The rubber nipples on the DIC should be lubed with a bit of silicone grease aka dielectric grease. The powder suggests normal but dried out.
