Thanks newwithasaab, you're the first to explain why they'd want to drag out payment. It makes sense to me, especially since they seem to be in no hurry to settle. Unfortunately, since we need a car now, if we fight in court we'll be out the thousands for a new car until the case is closed. I do plan on contacting the Division of Insurance regarding their handling of the situation. As I mentioned to Mike, all we're really looking for is the same make/model in comparable condition & trim/features. All the models we've found with similar years/miles are pretty abused in condition/maintenance, while those in similar condition/maintenance have fewer years/miles. Which makes sense; if you love & take care of your car, you're not going to sell it, right?
