Each control arm is ~$250 (according eeuroparts.com), and the shop is estimating 4-5 hours labor at $105/hr, I guess this $1,000 doesn't include the $75 for an alignment. Genuine Saab has after market control arms with poly bushings for ~$400, I was thinking about getting these. Also, after searching around here, I havnen't read good things about the Febi/Bilstein control arms.
It does seem like a pretty straight forward job, but I just remember ball joints being a serious DIY hassle on another car I used to own.
Sure my car only has 82k miles, but the ball joints are 10 years old. I can't believe the ball joints can be in the great of shape, so while I'm taking this part of the suspension all apart I might as well replace them, right?
