The dipstick shows I am down a quart of oil after flushing the engine and changing the oil. This is what I did:
1. Put on a new filter (Saab oem) to reduce oil level and offer better
filtration.
2. Added Amsoil Engine Flush and let idle on ramps for 20 minutes.
3. Drained oil for 1 1/2hrs and changed to Amsoil oil filter SDF29.
4. Put in 4 1/2 qts. Mobil One synthetic 10w-30.
5. Started car, let idle for 15 seconds and backed off ramps and let idle
for one minute; checked oil level and it barely registered on
dipstick.
6. Checked for leaks - none detected.
7. Drove it for about a quarter mile at idle and revved engine to 2200
while in neutral for a couple of seconds.
8. Rechecked level and down one quart still. Rechecked again after 20
minutes and still down 1 quart.
There are no warning lights and engine "sounds" fine to me. I have had the car only 6 weeks and have always checked the oil while the engine was cold so I don't know what kind of differential hot and cold readings one would expect (I doubt it is a quart). My fear is the flush clogged up some oil return line/port or something but I don't know. Any suggestions how to proceed?
