Page 148 of the owner's manual:
Engine oil drain plug tightening torque:
2.0......20 ftlbs
2.3......20 ftlbs
2.5V6....41 ftlbs
I replaced the washer too; it has a rubber ring around the metal part that gets compressed. Watching the oil pan flex if you get a little off plane with the socket convinces you that it is torqued pretty high. I used a box end wrench on the end of the ratchet to give myself some leverage. I used to do maintenance items like tune ups (back when cars still had points) but got out of the habit as I could pay for it to get done and I took up golf. There is something about a Saab though that seems to beg for that personal attention which I am willing to do; at least for the moment. (My handicap has gone up from an 8 to an 11 since owning the car however.) BTW, I had a new 90 Eclipse GSX 4cyl turbo 205hp, tensioner/belt failed at 3k, new top end put in no charge, changed belt at 60k, drove it to 95k, never gave it a second thought.
