1. Engine oil capacity after drain, v6, 4.7 qt, 4.5 liter but that's with the saab filter, maybe the amsoil filter holds more oil?
2. Having drained car on an angle (?) ramps? you may have drained out more than if level, so adding recommended amount would be low.
3. Check oil level after letting sit longer, otherwise there is still much oil up in the engine.
4. I would first check oil when engine is colder, if still low, add 1/2 qt, wait and check again, if still low, add the other 1/2 qt.
On my motorcycle (as an example) it registers NO oil when hot (sight glass) but FULL after sitting 15 minutes, and that's about a 1/2 quart difference, so I don't think 1 quart hot v. cold on a car is that far out.
