Yeah, certainly things like the foglight repl. aren't the fault of the car, nor is the the set of RE730's I bought last year had to be replaced after 15k miles, but how far can the "no fault" thing be carried? I had to replace one rear caliper at 46k miles, now the other one seems frozen. I've never had to replace a caliper on any other car I've owned. Pads and rotors are replacement items, perhaps on Saabs calipers are too. The same argument could be made for the strut mounts, the a/c compressor (at ~75k), and so on.
The control arms weren't all that expensive, about $170 each, and a Saturday to install them. The shocker was the sway bar end links at $50 each! When possible I get my parts through Saabnet sponsors rather than the dealer. The savings is tremendous. When I first did the brakes at 46k, I bought a LR caliper, both rear rotors and pads all around for about $500 and did the work myself. The dealer quoted me around that same amount just for the caliper.
The first alignment was to correct a pull to the right, the second was after the control arm install, the third will be after the strut mount repl. early next year. Oh well.
