My reverse (manual) was grinding last week so I decided to bring it to a local independent Saab mechanic.
I was told that the clutch is completely gone and he would replace it for $1100. He also said that not likely it is a tranny problem because the oil does not have any metal deposit in it.
Does anyone know why the clutch goes out so quickly at 60000mi? I don't think I shift more or harsher than an avg driver.
Also is his assumption of the tranny being OK correct? All he did was looked in the oil. He said besides that there is no easy way to diagnose the tranny.
Your input would be highly appreciated.
