First off, I certainly don't doubt that the engine (or a part) failed.
Over the past 25 years, I've probably moved about $1.5 million worth of AMSOIL products. Yep, there have been some engine failures. In every case, the problem turned out to be something other than the oil.
Bad head gaskets let antifreeze contaminate the oil--bingo. But not an oil problem.
Lack of coolant let engine run so hot that valve dropped into the cylinder--bingo. Again, not an oil problem.
Customer didn't check oil level for too many months--not an oil problem! Third exhaust lobe on a cam wiped out--but gee, mom, that happened to thousands of GM engines (and most of them were not running AMSOIL).
As a matter of fact, in over 30 years of existence, no engine failure has yet to be proven to be caused by AMSOIL. Actually, the only engine failures I've heard of in 25 years that could be directly caused by the oil was when Pennzoil ran a couple of weeks worth of production using the wrong additive package, which caused the oil to gel at temperatures nearing freezing. And the original Mobil 1 5W-20 oil (25 years back) did cause some seals to shrink, causing some oil leakage).
