in an almost black, flecky color, and no stains whatever. If you grab a hot pot and regret your mistake by putting it on the granite, nothing happens. with Corian, goodby. Yes it can be sanded, but by whom and at what expense? I do lots of things myself but sanding a machined and polished surface and maintaining it true is pretty tricky. We've never sealed our granite at all, by the way.
Incidentally, it does pay to look at the slabs to chose one after you choose the color, as natural stone varies a lot. Also, we learned by coxying up to one guy in the business that there is no significant cost difference to the dealer between colors, EXCEPT (big $$$)for those exotic pinks and azure blues. And, when you pay for it, you're buying the slab, so ask for the cut offs and cut outs as part of the deal. Make a great little table, if you pay them to finish the edges or have diamond tools. Finally, we chose an undercounter porcelain iron sink (Kohler Bakersfield, very deep and wide) so that the stuff on the counter can be swept right into the sink.
