Often overlooked and I may get dogged, but Northstar is sweet too. I did a 10 day trip last year and we stayed at Northstar, skied it 4 days. No lines, chill attitude. I'm just a lowly telemarker though, Gorper may chime in. Alpine Meadows and Squaw are sick, I went large on my twin-tip tele setup. Oh yea, Mt. Rose in NV is a cool local hill with killer deals. I think on Tuesdays it was buy 1 lift ticket, 2nd free and another day it's women ski free. It's a huge area worthy of many trips, so you can't really go wrong anywhere.
