may have a point, but it depends on the coverage you bought.
What does the language of the warranty say? Some cover turbos, others don't. Mine says it covers turbos only if they are OEM units--which Saab turbos are. It is possible that the person at the warranty company is unaware that a Saab 9-5 is turbocharged.
So you know, the turbo is basically an exhaust-gas driven pump that increases the pressure of the air entering the engine. More pressure=more power. Without a turbo your car would be pretty gutless.
But as Sten notes, see if sludging could have caused this failure. If so, Saab may be buying you an engine.
