locally its $60 for the cut key body, $20 for the back, $190 for the guts. I know it's cheaper elsewhere, but that's what the dealer charges as full retail. $35 for guts + back is a good deal. Then you only have to buy the cut part from the dealer + pay someone to marry the keys (all this is in Larry's FAQ)...
so yeah, I have 2 like that with useless shafts, one of which I will turn into a fob... but, nobody makes a blank for the 2004 and up 9-5, so I have to use an empty dealer key (like in that auction) which is rather bulky (to put in a wetsuit), and it seems a shame to hack it up just to make it smaller... pre-2004, the Ilco blank makes a lot of sense... I'd happily buy a thin precut blank from Saab also, but they don't make them...
I like the integrated key better than a separate fob, except for situations where the key needs to be immersed in salt water ;-)...
