It would likely be fine. I've started 9-3SSs with my thumb, with the key lying on the console next to the key hole. There isn't a "cut" key needed to start the 9-3SS, just the really expensive electronic key.
Sidebar: In theory if you had two OG9-5s/OG9-3s that used the same cut key, you could program a single key or set of keys to work both cars, and only need to carry a single key with you for both. The 9-3SS, OTOH is a two-way "marriage" and once a key is betrothed to one car, it can't "marry" a second unless "divorced" from the first...
