Where I live, the police are not authorized to use their lights unless there is some serious crime in progress that they need to get to. That means that if you call 911, and you are having a heart attack and cant manage to actually say anything into the phone, they dont know if it is just a prank, or your phone dropped on the floor and hit the emergency speed dial (like ive done on accident a lot) or whether there is someone there who is having a real emergency. In that instance the cop really wouldnt be authorized where I live to use his lights and speed. But I sure wouldnt mind if he bent the rules a little bit.
