You want opinions...
I'm a lawyer. I don't pay speeding tickets because they result in insurance rate increases (you don't think the insurance companies buy radar & laser guns for the cops out of the goodness of their hearts?). I have a good friend who is a defense attorney and has relationships with the prosecutors in all the local jurisdictions. If I get a ticket I call him, he get the prosecutor to turn it into a non-moving violation or outright dismiss it, and my friend gets a nice bottle of booze. In your case, find a good lawyer who has relationships with the prosecutors and be prepared to pay a few hundred $$.
Or plead not guilty and take a chance that you can plead it down with the prosecutor at the initial appearance yourself. That's the usual course in a case with a clean record. With your wife's recent ticket you may not have any luck with this, but worth a shot.
Good luck,
Scott
Note: This is not legal advice - it's my personal, nonprofesional opinion, and we have no attorney-client relationship. (Lawyer practicing CYA technique!).
